What's next
Okay, we're going to start writing our real play this week. So what I would like you to start doing is to realisitically think about what it is you would really like to do. We know this so far:
1. It's located in an abandonned cemetery with a lake nearby
2. It's going to be a horror type of play
3. It is going to have around 8 characters
So now we need to really focus on what it is we're going to do.
Everyone please write two ideas you would like to have incorporated in the play.

Music Lover
I imagine all of you like music so this week we're going to work with music and interpreting it.
1st Find a song that is significant to you because of its lyrics, it can be in English or Spanish.
2nd Look for the song on YouTube and write the link or imbed it on the blog so everyone can listen to it.
3rd Write a 4-sentence paragraph explaining what this song means to you and what do its lyrics say. You must interpret the song, don't tell me what it says, tell me what it means, how the lyrics make you feel or think.

Romeo and Juliet
Everybody is to chose a different act and scene!
Once you have chosen your act and scene, read it twice and comment on what you thought of it. It means much more that simply reading it and writing about what happened, you must understand some to the metaphors, allegories, motifs, themes, etc.

Up-coming play
As I mentioned in class, our next writing project will be writing a play. But first we need to learn more about plays and what makes them good.
This post will be a discussion on exactly what we want to do so you'll need to read it very often to continue evolving your ideas.
First, answer the following questions:
1. What is your favorite play and why?
2. Do you like plays? In your opinion, are they boring or interesting?
What could make a play better?
3. Why do you think plays are written?
4. If you could write a play, what would it be about and why?
Second, answer to following question based on your opinion, what others have written, and really thinking about how we could write something significant.
5. Since we are going to write a play, what should we write it about and why should it be written? What change might it provoke? Should we do something halfheartedly or try to produce a change in our readers?
Third, check the blog daily, if possible so we can have a better idea of what it is we are going to write about by Thursday.

Map Making
In order to better understand what Lewis and Clark went through, we are going to follow them on their expedition. Looking at their maps, below, how do you think they made their maps? Do you think their maps were accurate? Essentially, give your point of view on map making after investigating two famous explorers.
Welcome
We will use this blog to complement the class and to give you an opportunity to practice your English outside of class with not only your classmates but students from another class of the same level. The Blog will be updated at least once a week which means you have to check it weekly. The content on the blog will be based on themes we touch in class and in the book. Each week there will be either a link to go to or a passage on which we will comment. The idea of the blog is to work from each other's ideas. So you will read what other people have written and comment based on what they said.
